Approach:
Charlotte practices Collaborative Family Law which is a co-operative approach to negotiating and settling family related issues and disputes. There are some important differences between the collaborative and traditional approach:
-
Both ex-spouses agree to stay out of court.
-
There is a voluntarily exchange of all relevant information.
-
There is a commitment to co-operate and be respectful.
-
The focus is on crafting solutions that consider everyone involved.
-
The sole objective is to reach an efficient, fair and comprehensive settlement of all issues.
The Collaborative Approach has Many Benefits:
-
You and your former partner work together to find viable solutions that are situation specific. This can be done in four-way meetings with your respective lawyers. It can also be done with you in the background, providing instruction, but preferring not to be involved in face-to-face meetings.
-
The process is less stressful for your children because there is less conflict between the parents.
-
You and your ex-partner have control over both the process and the outcome.
-
The process is generally less costly and more efficient than litigation.
